
Thomas G. Shaw, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Shaw is a board-certified periodontist. He is a 1982 graduate of Marquette University School of Dentistry. He completed his periodontal residency in 1995 at the Naval Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland and received a Master of Science degree from George Washington University, Washington DC.
Dr. Shaw served 23 years in the United States Navy and retired in 1996 with the rank of Captain. His service included two tours at sea and humanitarian missions in Madagascar and Dillingham, Alaska. Among his many accomplishments, he was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal for his humanitarian service at a leper colony near Diego Suarez, Madagascar. While serving, he also conducted research in Dental Implantology and Guided Tissue Regeneration.
He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseo Integration, Midwest Society of Periodontology, Wisconsin Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, and Greater Milwaukee Dental Association and also The Dental Forum Study Club. He is also a past president of the Wisconsin Society of Periodontists and Assistant Clinical Adjunct Professor at Marquette University School of Dentistry.
Interest outside of dentistry includes travel, reading, scuba diving, running, baseball, and ballroom dancing with his lovely wife, Ivy. He enjoys spending time with his four wonderful children, Zach, Garrett, Amanda, and Jennifer, and his five grandchildren, Hanna, Camden, Gracie, Logan, and Madison. He is also a member of the American Legion and has several years coaching experience in Little League Baseball, taking two teams to a league Championship.
Dr. Shaw believes that patient education is paramount to excellent treatment. Patients will be welcomed by a friendly, caring staff that will treat them like family. We will work with fellow dental colleagues to help restore their patient’s teeth to health and function with always an eye towards the best esthetic result possible.
