Diagnosing Periodontal Disease
The process of diagnosing periodontal disease isn’t very scientific and it doesn’t take long to determine. A simple oral exam can determine if periodontal disease is present or not and by the end of it, you’ll know. Your periodontist may also take dental x-rays to see if bone loss has occurred.
During this time, it’s important for you to let your doctor know of any pain or discomfort you’re having and if you experience any abnormal symptoms, such as bleeding while brushing or gum soreness. This will further help with your diagnosis.
